Matt Update

I'm sure most of you have heard some "version" of our latest drama.
Fact 1. Monday afternoon, Matt was bitten or tagged on his right hand by a juvenile Osage Copperhead (pit-viper).

Fact 2. He is currently in ICU.

Fact 3. Matt started the antivenom/antivenin CroFab last night, and as of 10:30 PM tonight he was starting what we hope will be his last dose.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CroFab

Fact 4. He will NOT lose any limbs or digits.

Fact 5. (and tender mercy:) Matt was not alone when this happened, and had someone to take him to the hospital.

Fact 6. Matt had pictures taken of his tag every 15 minutes to document his hand/arm. Pictures to follow, when things calm down & I can stop being mad at him.

We are hoping he will get to come home tomorrow. The boys and I are holding up.

Safari

I love the safari theme that P.B. Kids has going on right now, especially these animal baskets AND their "outdoor" dining furniture.

Don't they just shout out "Jeppson" to you?!
Maybe (in my vast amount of spare time,) I could take a wood carving class and whip up my own...

Tagged by Sariah

I am doing this is b/c I love my sister Sari, and it's short.

Four places I go to over and over:
First is the gym a.k.a L.R.C. at the Community College-- I'm still working on my Ridge buddha belly.

2.

3. Preschool for carpool
4. Costco I was there today in fact. As well as the gym, and Target. Hmmm, maybe I should branch out more.

Four people who email me regularly:
Meme my hottsie totsie grandmother, Carie S., Tiffany W., & Sari

Four places I like to eat:
Cheesecake Factory, Panera, Jack Stack BBQ, and on special occasions,

McKormick & Schmicks mostly for their "Chocolate Bag." It is filled with delicious white chocolate mousse and you can see the rest below. We're going on Saturday for our anniversary! *See previous post

Four places I would like to be right now:
At once?
Shopping, hanging out with friends, the Caribbean or anywhere tropical, (NOT Rhode Island Sari! Although I'm sure it's lovely over there)... & with all my family.

Two people who will respond (I'm tagging you!):
Anyone who wants to.

Five TV shows:
I only have one due to the fact that we don't have cable, and that would be...

And now you know a little bit more about me. Seriously Sariah, Rhode Island? :)

Happy Anniversary to us!

If we knew you 10 years ago you would have gotten a cool "floral" and green announcement that looked like this minus the bad scan job:

If you were with us on this glorious day you will remember that I was throwing up (nerves?) hated my hair, (muchas, muchas gracias to Sariah y Brenna for fixing that code red situation) and was super late getting to the temple.
As I was flipping through our album I realized we don't have any close up pictures from the temple of what we looked like. Just imagine us both skinnier and with younger faces. We both love this picture because of the tulips.

The rest of our day was fantastic, minus me once again getting sick on our midnight flight to Florida/Sanabel Island. (nerves again?)
We can't believe how fast the time has flown by!

*Trivia* What did Jamey say to Matt after he proposed besides "probably...eventually..."

Answer: "Can you please take me home, I think I'm going to be sick."

Common theme: Me getting sick. That's one of the reasons I knew he was & still is "the one!"

Single Parenting

Matt has been & will continue to be in D.C. all week.
Everyday no matter how much diligence I put into predicting what the boys might do, I've been greeted by various forms of this. *Imagine other pictures that include eyeshadow, soap and potty training. Yup. I KNOW!

Good thing the Fonz is so cute!

Kite Festival, Scouting overnight & Steel Head

This weekend Matt & I split up parenting duties. I took Asher & Ridge to the Kite Festival at Longview Community College. (It was fantastic!) Matt took Jay with him on a Scouting Overnight, so he could teach a fishing merit badge thinga-majig.
Also a couple pictures from Matt's Steel Head fishing trip in Michigan.

What are little boys made of?

A Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme

What are little boys made of? Snips and snails, and puppy dogs tails That's what little boys are made of !"

For the past two years, Matt has taken the boys on an overnight trip to go salamander hunting. He somehow (I'm sure he's told me his connection but I can't remember it right now,) gets permission to hike into a cave called Campground Cave where there are all kinds of fun creatures, particularly salamanders.

One of the things I love about Matt is that he is an involved dad. He loves to go on adventures with our sons, which does 2 great things.
1. Creates bonding time between Matt and the boys,
2. Gives me a little bit of alone time which every mom needs once in a while.

Here are a few pictures from their latest outing. This is Jay's favorite. He loves toads.

Jay with Asher who is holding a small mouth salamander

Heading into the twilight zone...Ash likes to turn over every rock he can get his hands on to see if there is anything at home underneath.

The boys post cave adventure, clothes covered in Missouri clay.

Holding Ring neck snakes...
In case you are wondering, you will never see a picture of me holding any kind of snake.

Announcing Elder Seth William Jenkins...

In our church, when the young men turn 19 or women turn 21 they can serve a mission. It is volunteer service for 2 years. (18 months for girls.) My brother received his mission call in the mail on Friday after haunting the mailbox all week. (We've ALL been anxiously awaiting it's arrival.)
Here is my cute mama checking the mail... YES it's here! She called everyone to let us know to be ready for him to open it at 4:00 p.m. M.S.T.
I asked if she had peeked or held it up to the light. She said "no" and laughed. (In my family I am famous for peeking.) *Side note: in the background you can see a portion of the wall that makes up part of the famous "Jenkins Compound." Imagine a wall surrounding 12 acres.

Here is Seth opening "the call."

Seth has been called to serve in the Tegucigalpa, Honduras mission! We are all so excited for him! I think Matt & I are on the phone that Seth is holding up to his ear. (Trying to help him pronounce Tay-goose-ee-galpa.)

In case you don't know where Honduras is:

Ridge on the move

Now that he's 10 months, getting a picture of Ridge is no easy feat.
This is how he usually looks:

Or, I can get him to hold still for a few minutes with a bottle

Or something to chew on. ..

But, anyway you dice it, we think he's the cutest!

And to those of you who noticed, NO I can't figure out how to get the first part of my post to not be underlined!

What's on your ipod?

It probably seems like I post a lot. I don't think this will be the norm. Matt is up in Michigan steel head fishing for several days. So I've been keeping busy trying to figure out the world of blogging. I admit it's been pretty fun. Tonight I figured out how to post a youtube video to my blog. Google is so great. Also special thanks to Mindy M. for helping me out in the template category. I couldn't have done it without you!

Recently, I was talking with my friend Carie at the gym and we were saying that people would probably laugh at the eclectic collection of songs on our ipods. Here are a couple of songs that I can't get out of my head. I'd love to hear some of your favorites! Hint Comment, Hint

Ozone - Dragostea Din Tei (aka Numa, numa) I had to change the video to a different one b/c the "embedding was disabled" so I found this one. Can you say cool dance moves? I love the pumping heart move and of course their little Romanian jig. Although this one is not as fun as the airplane one, it still keeps me going on the elliptical machine!
