We took a family trip out west in May to visit my maternal grandparents in California. They had never met Ridge and we hadn't been able to see them in about 3 years.
So what's the most cost effective way to get a family of 5 to California AND Utah?
You fly to L.A. and then rent a car to drive back home of course! It was very worth it.
Ted & Nevada Hand are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. However, DO NOT get in Grandma's way on the road, no sir. She's a lead foot and will run you down!
It was so fun to see them, and my sister Brenna & her family drove down from Monterrey to party with us as well!

Matt & grandpa at the Cedar Creek property. It is so beautiful and holds many childhood memories. We made S'mores and roasted hot dogs. Brenna gave grandpa his first s'more to try. We think it was a success.
Lily the Gansta'
(she was supposed to be in bed but was putting on her dad's clothes in the dark so I took some pictures.)
Ridge, Daisy, Asher & Molly the dog. I have a picture like this of me when I was little somewhere...

Favorite Quotes of the trip:
On our way to church in Mt. Mesa CA:
Jay: "Other grandpa's drive slow, but not THIS grandpa!"
After telling Grandma that we weren't leaving on Monday:
G-ma: "When ARE you leaving?"
Truly so funny.
*I love this one for multiple reasons, but mostly b/c of how polite my grandparents are to each other even after 56 years of marriage.
Conversation between G&G:
G-ma: What are you looking at over there?
G-pa: Just checking the temperature.
G-ma: What's it say?
G-pa: I forgot already.
G-ma: That's o.k. I can look at the one over here.
G-pa: No, no, (walking back to the temp. gauge) it's not that far...it says 52 degrees!
G-ma: Well, okay!

What a super happy family you are a part of! So great! :)
so sweet! I love the picture of Matt and grandpa, and the family portrait (I want 3 boys of my own), and the picture of you kissing grandpa. Your sister looks like a lot of fun too. What sweet memories.
I am soooooo jealous!!!!!!!!! Seriously very jealous! I should have been there! I have tears!
That place looks beautiful! And your grandpa's startled faced in the 2nd to last picture made me laugh...he looks so concerned!
oh and I can't believe how beautiful you and your sister's eyes are, obviously a family gene going on there somewhere :)
I have to agree with Carrie about your eyes! So pretty.
Aren't Grandparents the best? Love the pictures of you with them, so sweet!
