Coming clean... My day so far...

This post is for everyone who doesn't live in K.C. that might remember the clean freak I use to be. (Tiffany & Sarah my dear roommates at BYU, who married twin brothers so they could continue to be best friends AND sister-in-laws!)
Back before I was a mom, or before I had 3 kids, I use to have the nickname of "Monica" from Friends. I was real bad, like probably not in a good or healthy way. Obsessive. I'm embarrassed to say I was a cleaning Nazi.
Even though it is true I do love Garbage Day (only 3 more days) and a clean house. The two rarely-if ever, coincide at the same time. You can see that just because the garbage is out, the house is NOT clean. This is my day so far and it's only 7:30 a.m.

I woke up to Jay making camp by my bed. He was up an HOUR earlier then usual. Then Ridge followed suit.

Jay made his own bed. I figure the less I have to do, the better.

Asher wakes up.

The guest room/Ridge's room/office. I think most of those clothes are clean and were once upon a time folded. I think they've been there about 3 weeks.

Jay showing me his sad face, b/c I wouldn't get his breakfast yet. (I made him wait since he was up an HOUR early.) I'm a mean mom, I know.

Our upstairs is littered with Rubbermaids waiting to be filled or put away. Today is JULY 1st and I still haven't gotten all the winter clothes put away. (For 4 people.) On my bed are piles of clothes that 1-fit, 2-almost fit, and 3-don't fit b/c they are too big, and 5-don't fit because they never will again.

4t's and 5t's.

2t's, 3t's and a suitcase from our San Diego trip that hasn't quite been unpacked all the way. Good thing we're leaving on vacation soon and our suitcases are already upstairs for us. I'm a planner what can I say?

More Rubbermaids & diapers.

Ridge at breakfast. Yes Jay & Asher were fed too.

Everyday Asher asks "Is it da forf of July yet?" He can't wait to wear "deese pj's on da forf. "
This picture also reminds me I need to paint the gold trim on my fireplace doors...

Our work station. Sad, but true.

Yes! Those ARE wedding napkins on my desk...from 1998. I'm not sure how they got there. Maybe Asher or Ridge carried them up.
Mom & Dad Jeppson were cleaning out a closet in SLC and sent those out. We're still using them!

Any sympathy offers out there to come and help me get my act together?

I just have to say...yeah, I'm not the only one. I was also once upon a time a neat freak. Getting married and having children has definitely changed that. My house is usually clean for the most part but is oh, so cluttered. I'm working on it though. I have sick kids today though so I'm cuddling not cleaning. (Sari passed your blog on to me...hope you don't mind).

It's really nice to see that you are just as human as the rest of us. I hope you have a fabulous 4th of July. Your boys are adorable!

Hey, at least you're letting things go by the way side to be a good mom to the boys. I, on the other hand, have many days where my neat-freak-ness gets the better part of me and I'm a not-so-great mom to the boys. It's all about balance....and I'm still learning!

What ever happened to the clutter buddies enrichment idea???

Amen! It is super hard finding the happy medium between housework and quality kid time. Especially when you like things tidy.
Now, Jamey, all you have to do is have another baby and I will come out to organize and clean your house again.

...Or I charge a quarter an hour.
Remember when I used to clean your room for a dime, well my rates have gone up. Gotta keep up with these Cali gas prices.

Brenna, you crack me up! Now if you are a good little sister while you are in the closet(because we mean sisters wont let you play with us) we might slip you a puzzel under the door! Please come help me!! It seems no matter how hard I try I just cant keep it up. It is really overwhelming! Jamey, at least you can say at one point you were a clean freak, because I never was, and probably never will !

Hahahahaha!!!! Jamey is rotating her wardrobe!!! I feel like half of my colleg experience revolved around you rotating your wardrobe. I would offer to come help you clean your house, but we all know I'm a Rachel, not a Monica, so I don't think my help would be much help at all.

PS, "it's the end of an era!" I still miss you so much! If Scott and Dave had a triplet, we would have saved him for you. Well, that is if you hadn't already been engaged to Matt when I met Scott... Maybe Scott's mom could adopt Matt so we could be sis in laws too.

Just in interest of full disclosure: Jamey's house always looks GREAt.

I hate rotating clothes! I'd almost rather buy new each size and each season...oh if I were rich!

I'm with Sari. Never was a neat freak- but I do enjoy things clean. Adjusting to 2 kids has been sooo hard and has definitely taken a toll on my house. I think you are doing a great job, Jamey! :)

I have no clue what you're even talking about?! Your house looks totally clean to me! YOUR BEDS ARE MADE....and what's wrong with rubbermaids layin' around the house? That's not normal...ummmmm?! The only reason you can't see my computer desk "decor" is because it's behind closed doors in a cabinet (my little secret). Come on....you even have holiday decor up on your mantle. I'm lucky if I get any up at Christmas! YOU'RE A SUPER MOM (heehee)!

Well, I'm glad to know that you are just like the rest of us! It is so hard to keep up with everything! I can't figure out how some people can keep their houses SO CLEAN ALL of the time! By the way-it still doesn't look that bad! :) I have a ton of rubbermaids too with clothes in them and hate doing the rotating! I just finally finished doing Parkers for the summer a couple of weeks ago!

Uuuggh. I look at your mess and MY mess stresses me out even more. I'm about to light a match and set my basement on fire at this point. I don't think it's salvagable. Really....the junk, the piles? It's out of control. I wish I was organized enough to at least have billions of totes sitting around my house!
